Can I Recover All Of The Data From My Corrupt RAW Hard Drive?

I was gleefully running Vista when my computer went to the blue screen of death (this one didn't purport). After a few weeks it started happening again every 2-3 days. It later stopped doing that. I have a 400GB WD Caviar SE16 SATA-3Gb/s refer to with Vista installed that had this problem 3 years ago and a 500GB Drive with XP that has been fine, no problems. I am currently typing on my new 1TB WD Caviar Disgraceful 6Gb/s drive (fantastic drive, by the way) and the OS sees the drive as "RAW".

Answer: There is never any promise of being able to recover data when drives crap out. Sometimes it's just corruption but the drive is physically still exquisite, other times the drive electronics have failed, or the magnetic media itself has degraded.

Often, healing can be done... but not always. It just depends upon what happned to go wrong in that particular instance. Sometimes it's nothing serious and the released utilities from download.com can repair the parition table. Other times

How To Recover Data From External Wolverine USB Hard Drive That Cannot Be Read?

Name brand new 120 GB Wolverine HD overheated while reading CF card with sensitive .cr2 image files. Piece froze, and now data cannot be read. Unit shows 93 GB free on screen. When connected shows up as a stab, but in XP2 shows up as zero data and "raw". I cannot return unit and will use any free, shareware or commercial programs. Or if you can list instructions that succeed I commit to snail-mailing you a $20 bill. Thanks.
Oh, I forgot. It was at formatted as FAT 32

Recover RAW Formatted External Hard Drive?

So my bunk-mate's 500gb hard drive's USB plug broke, and I suggested he buy a SATA water down but after he plugged it in, the drive turned to RAW format (which, to my understanding, means that it has no format). Are there any programs that he can use to recover his data? He has hours of video recorded that he cannot in conflict with to use.
He has already tried a few programs, none yielding any results. I was reccomended SpinRite but that'd be too complicated for him since he's not a "techie".

Answer: RAW scarcely means that your USB drive is totally empty and has not been formatted.
There is no way to get back your data. If it was that important, you should have it backed up to several other places no? :P
