What Is The Best Way To Attempt To Recover Data From A Hard Drive?

I have a Compaq 5423us that the BIOS check-up recommended replacing the hard drive, so I did. Now I need to try and recover the data from the old one, if possible.

Answer: Was the old hard drive still usable? Can it be present?
If so, hook it up as a Slave and access it in Windows and copy data needed.

If you cannot access it, like, it's not enjoyable, you may need to get a professional to get it from the disk, if its needed that much. (Important data) It WILL cost a pretty penny.

I was working on my computer at effort at it just turned off and got a blue screen. Tryed new memory, tryed putting HD in a unique computer, used Norton Backup, nothing is working. Any way to get the information off of the Hard Drive?

Answer: Its a business pc? Have you contacted your in-house tech support?

Recently my hard drive for my computer flat down, and I have data I need to recover. It started making some kind of clicking noise right one day when I woke up. Then after that windows would not start up at all. Please account for in detail what methods i can use to recover my hard drive data.

Answer: Recovering data from a hard drive that is in a non working condition, as it sounds as yours is, is not a simple process.

Your best bet would be to send it to a data recovery secondment like ontrack.

To try it yourself, you would have to obtain an exact matching model of hard drive, and take the platters out of the disregarded drive and place them in the new drive. This is NOT an easy thing to do, and I can almost guarantee an amateur will not be able to be successful

Secondly does the data gets stored in the hard drive when we surf the net but did not save it ?For eg.if I download the emails and after viewing, I log out.Is it conceivable to recover the info contained in that mail later which I viewed?

Answer: Part A: It is realizable, but difficult in the the extreme. Residual magnetic 'memory' will stay on the disk, but retrieving it takes very subtle methods and equipment (the FBI & CIA are examples of forensic recovery for 'must have' data on criminal's hard drives.) That's why it's formidable to overwrite a hard drive 5X when de-activating a computer; that re-aligns those magnetic residuals over and over, making data unreadable & beyond recouping for anyone.

How Do I Recover Data From Burnt Hard Drive?

My HP Notebook ze4200 Hard Drive failed about ayear ago. I replaced it with a new one and it's working momentous. I need to retrieve files from the burnt one, is it possible? and what type of cable do I paucity?

Answer: You can get a laptop 2.5" adapter and it will discover it into a 3.5" IDE hdd connection and you can install it on any IDE as a hdd or you could get a external hdd enclosure that is designed for 2.5" laptop drives and it will exertion also. But the with the adapter you would not have to have a external box that's only good for 2.5" laptop hdds you could at most have the adapter and its probably around $4-$10 on ebay all day long as the external enclosure is $ 25-$40.
