Its a WD 320 gb external hard drive and it stopped working after it hew down down a few times. Now it says 'USB device not recognisable' on any system with any data cable. There's a lot of data in it that i need. I can't spend too much on recovering data, but is there a way in which I can atleast prospect the data the files in the hard drive and make a list atleast?

My external hard drive has groaning up, I have had it a little over a year and the power has just gone, it won't switch on or anything.
I'm pretty ineluctable there will be nothing wrong with the drive itself.

I have taken the external drive apart and taken a look inside my desktop but I don't be versed how to get the data from one to the other help!!
