Can Someone Else On Another Computer Recover Data That Was Removed By Formatting The Hard Drive? |
Is there a way to lock wipe the external hard drive clean so that no data is recovered?
And yes I plan to give my difficult drive to someone but I don't want them to recover anything. I also want to use a secure delete program, but I don't want to convert the hard drive useless. So please if anyone knows of names or ways to completely wipe the outward hard drive clean, but yet useable.
| Answer: If it's unreservedly imperative that the data be destroyed, the best thing is to physically destroy the hard pilot (as in, rip it to shreds). If you still need to hard drive to give or sell to someone else, you can look into a disk cleaner program which will repetitively write garbage data over the hard drive until there's very little hope of ever recovering the data. This will be at least 99.9% safeguard. |
