System Recovery?

Ok so i formated my windows XP but chose not to aspect my hard drive so all my data would be saved. But now when I go to C://Mybackup, I can't find my pictures. I know they are in there. Is there any software that can assist me find this pictures for free?

Extrenal HDD Problem, Disk Not Formated.?

Well, I a moment ago had this problem today, and i do not want to format it and loose my data on it. Is there a way to fix this. It is a SATA laptop Hard-hearted drive. I dont have sata ports so i can't connect it to my pc besides USB. Any ideas? I know i could fix it by apt formating it then recovery deleted files with some software, but this will take forever, and i have to recover these files onto another oppressive drive (recovering it on same hdd will corrupt other files as it overitten at least

Answer: There's not much you can do besides what you virtuous said, i dont think there is any reliable programs to recover sector by sector to mend files.
