I recently bough a Hitachi unpretentious drive. Unfortunately my computer has since crashed. How do I restore the data that I have lost instead of looking through hundreds of zipped files and copying and pasting. I have tried windows recouping but it does not work. Is the drive faulty?

I recently backed up data onto a perceptible usb drive using the windows XP backup utility.
My 60 GB hard disk (with three partitions) crashed yesterday and is not recoverable. I bought a 250 GB hardisk and have reloaded windows XP. How do I restore the data/programs from my backup campaign? I have made three partitions in my new drive. How will the restoration know where to put things, since my new hard disk is larger in potential?

Since you don't need to recover to your original XP System using the saved Folder, I simulate you only need to recover some of the contents from it. Let's assume the Folder has an ID like: Backup27Feb07 or something like that. Connect the USB drive containing the Folder above.

How Do I Restore Data After An Operating System Restore?

I restored my operating system using my Gateway Operating system Disc using the preserve data option. I have my Back up file but cannot restore my documents in the Owner files. I cansee the files, they show the estimate of disc space but I get "Access Denied Message when I try to open the documents.
