How To Recover Data On External Hard Drive For PC? |
Question by medusa | Posted in Add-ons
My exotic hard drive started clicking. From everything I have read, this is called 'the slick of death'. How can I recover data from the hard drive if my computer will not see drive? Basically, how do I get the drive to mount? Is there software I can use?
My apparent hard drive for my PC started clicking. From everything I have read, this is called 'the click of death'.
I have tried to mount the extrinsic hard drive to a G4 via firewire and USB as well as to my PC and a laptop.
| Answer: The "click of cessation" is usually the drives read heads coming loose and banging up the skin of the drive's platters, so potentially the more you try to use the drive the less data you will be able to recover. What you need to do is take it to a data recovery service where they can take the drive apart and get any admissible data off the platters using some special equipment. |
