I've been poking around for data recovery software for the mac. I have a obdurate drive which has a corrupted file system. (I'm a computer technician, but i'm doing this for a mate of mine, and I don't normally transaction with macs) Its a mac drive, so i'm assuming that I will need software for the mac, unless there is software that runs under windows that I can use. I have a Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 750GB SATA impecunious drive that has gone bad. Here are the details:

-- The BIOS recognizes it and shows the correct name for it.

-- When I boot up, Windows 7 offers to do a ChkDsk, which I strike (should I let it do the ChkDsk or might that make the problem worse?).

-- Device Manager lists it normally and says "This contrivance is working properly"

-- Disk Management (in Computer Management) says:

I honourable did a data recovery for someone - 8 years worth of files. I'm debating charging the guy $100. I made an concept of his failing hard drive before doing any work. As I was doing work on it the travel failed and refused to boot up so I had to buy a logic board for the drive ($60 with shipping....the guy wanted it done this week). So I recovered all the documents which by that nevertheless were on the drive but it reverted to a RAW filesystem. I'm debating charging him $90. I spent $60 +
