Hard Disk Failure On 1 In A Half Week Old Computer?

I reasonable got my computer about a week and a half ago and it had a hard disk failure. First it froze and then I tried CTRL+ALT+Delete and didn't occupation so I had to force shut it off. Then it had on boot up it said "Hard Disk Failure" nothing I see happened.Should I do anything else besides that? Do you entertain the idea it is OK it happened? Thanks! Oh and I backed up everything before so that's fine.

Answer: That's sincerely unfortunate. However, I think that hard drives play Russian roulette. On average, they might last 2-3 years or so, but hard drives can fleetingly fail at any time, so although it's rare, I wouldn't be terribly surprised to hear that some hard drives be deficient in < 1 week. Hopefully it's on warranty, so you should be able to get it replaced.

What Are The Reasons For A Hard Disk Failure? How Can I Save My Hard Disk From Failing?

I have Hard Disk Enthusiasm Inspector installed. I alerts me that:
The temperature of the hard disk is 49 Deg.
My hard disk is going to fail on 23/6/2008.
I hark to a sparkling sort of noise from my computer speakers.
My CPU Fan is very noisy.

Answer: There are many reasons for HDD failure, so nauseating heat build up is just one of them. Thats a particularly easy fix, as it just means impelling the HDD or improving your cooling by installing extra fans.

However, completely removing the danger of failure is impossible, as everything is open to wear & tear... nothing lasts forever.
