Anyone Have Your Hard Drive Disintegrate? I'm Wondering How Much To Recover Data On My HD.? |
Question by bhenkel54321 | Posted in Other - Hardware
Hello, I discern hard drives are mortal creatures, and yes, I should have backed up my data. I have a 120 Gb external hard drive that went kaput. I tried Norton, Data Release, Disk Warrior (I'm using a mac) -- nothing. If you have any further suggestions on retrieving my data myself, even better. Otherwise, I think I'm screwed and might look into the services of a data recovery unswerving (but I'm a broke college student not looking to shell out a ton of cash). I'm hoping to get a ballpark of
| Answer: most hard outing recoverys start at $150-$500 and go up depending on the amount of data recovered. Try OnTrack for recovery also. A trick I use a lot is to wrap the force in a towel and freeze it (yes, in a freezer) for 12-18 hours. Take it out and immediately plug it in and see if you can fetch the data. Had to freeze on twice to get it all but it works about 50% of the time. Good Luck. |

Extracting Data From A Malfunctioning Hard Drive? |
Question by Crysco | Posted in Other - Hardware
I would like to distinguish the other methods of extracting the data from a hard drive that isnt working. It started with the tick of eradication, and before I could transfer the files out to another hard drive it stopped being recognized and started clicking loudly. I have heard of the old put the hard urge in a freezer bag and freeze it theory which is hilarious, also the possibility of taking off the cover and carefully rotating the disks carefully to see if the motor stopped the disks from turning, which
Answer: You can buy the same paragon hard drive. Open it up and switch the disks from the old one to the new one. Be extremely careful while doing this, use est straps and keep touching the center of the disks.
It will require dissassembling and reassembling the hard drive so try and get the tech specs of it; If you can't find it unprejudiced note where all the pieces go.
I had the same problem a few years ago and this solution worked for me.
