I have a 4GB Gizmo shoot drive containing a large number of photos. Apparently due to a malfunction in the tool along itself, it is no longer recognized by the computer when inserted into a USB port. I have tried two of the freeware data recovery programs available on in step with negative results. I am willing to spend a reasonable amount to recover the photos but not a affluence as would be the case if sent to a professional. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have an outer disk drive (Maxtor One Touch II 300GB) connected via USB that has recently past its data.
Windows Vista has given it a new drive letter, and doesn't see that the drive is formatted. Norton Disk Doctor doesn't know the drive, either. (This occured after installing Iomega Tools on my PC (under XP Pro on a dual boot) so that I could get data off of an old 100MB Zip disk -- I shady the Iomega software somehow corrupted the external drive -- though I can't be sure.)
