How To Delete Files Without Leaving Any Traces?

I downloaded some rot onto my PC and now want to permanently delete it. I threw the stuff into the Recycle Bin and emptied it, reflective that would do it. However, I used an undelete utility and was still able to see the files and in some cases retrieve them. So I undeleted the files and Euphemistic pre-owned a shredder utility to shred the files. However, I can still see the files in my undelete utility. How do I get rid of the files so that even the undelete utility won't see them anymore?

Answer: Use SDelete. It was written by confidence expert Mark Russinovich. Basically it takes your file and overwrites it so many times that it becomes unrecoverable.

Need To Open Corrupt Or Damaged Microsoft Word Documents.?

I had a burdensome drive crash and used an undelete utility to recover my files. About half of the .doc Word files give a clanger when opening:
"Select the encoding the makes your document readable."
And contains a whole tabulation of various languages and formats, radio buttons for "Windows (fall short), MS-DOS, Other encoding" There is also a preview window. No combination of the buttons and list will make a show the document look like anything other than scrambled
