Vista Recovery Disk? Data Loss? |
Question by Earo | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
The steely drive on my laptop went bad a couple days ago. I can't get it to boot Vista appropriately; the farthest I can get is the Startup Repair--which informs me that I have a "bad disk." Don't know if this is earthly damage or just corrupted files. Thankfully, CMD is available in the list of additional options, and I've old it to look around the disk a bit. Everything personal seems to be fine, I'm just thinking there's a problem with the OS files. So I'm about to use a Vista Recovery
| Answer: your deeply drive may have a bad sector (corrupt). when you were in the command prompt did you run Chkdsk to search for bad sectors and strive to repair them? if so try using your recovery disk and re write your start up files. for some reason the BIOS cant find the OS. most likley your back-breaking drive needs replacing. |
