I identify data recovery software is a good option for corrupted files but what about physical damage? I dropped my superficial 1TB hard drive and now it makes the clicking sound and is undetectable on "my computer". If data recovery software is an election could you please recommended a program. Window only as per usual read NTFS format for hard drive. The only way to get it to FAT32 (Which Format that Linux,PS3, USB storage gimmick use) is to make your HD into a 32GB storage space only.

My hard drive moral decided to fail. the thing still works, but windows doesn't even recognize it anymore. A confrere of mine worked on it for all of five seconds and discovered that the file system read RAW instead of the original NTFS I formatted it with. I've search the internet for data recovery software, however, the price tag doesn't up things any easier. I've been annoying to get some files off a dead hard disk (i.e. one that reports RAW filesystem), using the data recovery software from http://www.datadoctor.in/. Unfortunately almost all files have failed to be recovered appropriately, even though the software has detected the structure of the directories, and the file names. The only files that seem to work are almost stock within zip files.
Have I been doing something wrong?

I have a WD Passport that is refusing to mount. (big dumbfound huh?) My computer sees the drive in the device manager but it won't mount and wants me to reformat it. Because I need the files I need to try some software that will actually repair the drive. I feel like I'm so close but I'm a noob to Windows. On Mac we unbiased use Disk Utility or Disk Warrior to fix this problem.
