Hard Drive Failure-Data Recovery?

My hard drive recently started making a clicking crash, and would no longer load windows. It would load the BIOs, but then a screen would come up saying that it can't unearth my hard drive. I tried rebooting it several times, but it still didn't work.. So I took the hard drive out of the computer and installed a new hard drive. However, I have some fault-finding files on my old drive and would like to recover them. Does anyone know how I can transfer the data on my old drive onto my new drive?

Answer: I've had that take place to me before. The last time that happened,
I got real desperate, so before I sent the drive off for data recovery, I decided to hook the old drive up as a slave-girl (making sure, of course, that the jumpers on the old drive were reading "slave" or "cablegram select."). I was then able to read my old drive and transfer all of my critical files to the new drive. Whew! I was ever so keen that worked--some companies charge big for this stuff.

What Is The Best Data Recovery Program For A Physical Hard Drive Failure?

I have a 2.5" laptop hard disk that got smashed. I stand in want to recover the data (mainly a few work docs and photos) from within the drive. the drive is hooked up to a USB connection. which program would be the A- to try to recover data on this drive. Windows XP is picking up the drive and lists it under device manager in the control panel. but it cannot scent the drive under administration tools. Other data recovery programs i tried are always searching for a physical drive or a drive letter
