Why Is 2007 Going To Be A Big Year For Online Data Backup?

I see a lot of inadequate companies poping up in the online backup and recovery space. And Evault just got bought by Seagate.

Answer: And that makes it a big year? I yourselves wouldnt trust another site to store my files when its just as easy and far cheaper to back them up myself! I presume tho with computer illiteracy as large as its becoming, people will be foolish enuff to pay!

i have 220 GB data in c effort and 10 GB data in recovery ( d ) drive . how can i backup it before upgrading to windows 7 from vista . idon't want to devote much money .

Answer: I contemplate the best option would be to write the most important files a to DVD or a portable Hard disk.

Carry away any Duplicate data before making a backup

As to your relevancy data, it depends on the application. Most people store their files and pics etc in My Documents (on xp, which is actually c:\documents and settings\USERID\my documents), or USERID (on Vista and then subfolders like Documents, Pictures, etc). Some apps like Kindle keep the data with the program in Program Files.

Data Backup At Home?

I am planning to buy two (2) @ 1 TB extraneous USB hard drives, 7200 RPM and 16MB cache, to keep all my files on. I will use only one of the drives as the main authority but will treat the other as a mirror image backup. Each night when the computer is not in use the second HD would syncronize with the other, and maybe I'd run a HD check-up utility as well to make sure it is functioning properly (advice on software of alternative for these operations is also appreciated).

Answer: Sounds adept to me. Use Microsoft's Sync Toy for the backup tasks and Task Scheduler for your HD Test utiltity (both are relaxed of course).

How To Restore Hard Drive From Created Backup Recovery Discs?

I created Recovery discs to backup my knotty drive. I was prompted to create a set of five discs but some error prevented me from creating the last one. Count that won't show to be an issue later.

Now, my system crashed and I need to get all my data back, but am unsure of the steps to take to do so from the recovery discs. Can you lecture me how and anything things else I might need to know? Thanks so much!

Answer: Did you put the first recovery disc in the cd/dvd push & reboot the computer & see if it allows you to boot off the cd? If nothing happens then you will need to go into the bios & see if its set to boot the cd first then the inscrutable drive.

If this is set correctly, then you probably didn't make the boot cd. Since you had an clanger, its possible you will still have issues.
