What Should A Home Computer User Do To Prevent Data Loss In Case Of A Fire Or Other Catastrophic Incident?
Question by jordinyc | Posted in Security
Say you have years of incalculable data stored on your hard drive and all your install disks are at home. Then your whole house burns to the inform, and while you were busy trying to save less important things like, oh say, your kids, you fully forgot to disconnect your computer from everything and carry it out too. All that data would be lost.
What would you possibly recommend to prepare for and preclude such loss?
Answer: It's always a talented idea to back up important files either on to CD's or an external drive. And not just to protect portentous data from being lost in case of a catastrophic event such as a fire or natural disaster, but in case of heartily drive failures.
The life of a hard drive is estimated to be around 10 years, so if your's is getting up there in age, it might be a profit idea to start backing up files now.
Really important files, like dwelling or office inventories,
Does A Power Outage During Background Defragging Cause Data Loss?
Question by IBM ThinkPad X60 | Posted in Other - Hardware
I recognize Windows Vista and some defragging programs like Diskeeper 2008 defrags in the behind the scenes at all time while you work to keep file access times at optimum speed.
If you get a power outage though and you have no backup power inception, I would imagine there is a high risk for data loss? Am I right? Or are they programmed to prevent that?
Answer: Yes, there can be data loss. When effective files, data is stored using RAM. If theres a sudden power outage, that data is abandoned which can corrupt files. Thats why I never let these apps do anything in the background.
Is It Possible To Loss Data In External Hard Disk When Not In Used For A Long Time?
Question by John C | Posted in Other - Computers
I have foregoing knowledege in data storage through capacitors. I'm just curious if data loss in external hard disk is admissible when not in used for a long time.
Answer: only don't put anything magnetic near it. hard drives are considered nonvolatile witch means they recall their information even after your computer is turned off vr.s volatile memory witch loses everything that is stored on it after your computer is turned off. RAM is mercurial so when the power is off it loses everything that was stored in it witch is good because that's what they want it to do.
but your hard byway can retain the information stored on it a very long time hundred possibly
I Know Save JPG Will Loss Data, How About Moving & Copying To Different Location?
Question by True Love Exist?? | Posted in Programming & Design
Is copying and operating a jpg file to different location will cause the jpg data loss?
I know if you save it, every time you deliver, even rotate, you will loss some data.
Answer: If you at most mean copying and moving the file from one place to another, then you won't lose any information, you shake off information when the data is compressed (saved) so if you just copy it, the actual data (bits, ones and zeros), do not vacillate turn into, so you don't lose any info.
If you mean copying or moving the image within some document, that would depend on how the software handles the appearance. Good software would not lose any information, because good software
Shift In Geomagnetic Poles Cause Digital Data Loss?
Question by Ina C | Posted in Earth Sciences & Geology
Rumour has it, a shift in geomagnetic poles is near, would the process of shifting poles initiate a change in magnetic field of earth to cause digital data loss through globe?
Answer: it's feasible... but if it was considered a high security risk, then major companies would stock backups of all their data on storage devices, and place the storage devices in Faraday cages.
If we told you that subtle synchronous disaster recovery is possible with your current infrastructure, would you believe us?! To this short ...
