Answer: hi G978, to get data recovery you don't trouble microsoft was ready for this so hit start>programs>accessories>system tools scrol down to system renovate there you will see a calender hit the first lit number to your left and hit okay or apply your system will restore then reboot it will gain the files to you. now let's say your files were in the delete bin and they were deleted then go to the delete bin and ask for that file back it will come proper back to you after the restore. good luck

I have used StompSoft's Recuperate Lost Data to retrieve pictures off of a DVD-RW before and perhaps this might work for you as well. Just an idea before you spend lots of in clover.

Anyone Know Of Any Data Recovery Tools That Work For Dvd-r?

I'm looking for a data recovery instrument that will work on a dvd-r disc that has accidentally been reformatted. I've come across several on the internet, but am a bit wary of paying stiff prices for something that just might not work. The disc I need to access has stuff on it that I had on my computer before reformatting the computer and then after I reformatted the very same computer would not access the disc and to turn up tell of matters worse, the disc was accidentally erased by InCD. Anyway,

Answer: If you did a full InCD style, chances of recovery is nil, as it writes to each sector during the format.

Quick format will just obliterate the file table so theres some chance of recovery, personally I have never done one on a DVD before, so cant quote you from the experience of HardDisk recovery, most software should consent to you to download and try to see if it can see anything first before purchase.
